UPS Prepared for TSA's 100% Screening Requirement
Service Update

Beginning August 1, 2010, the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will require 100% screening of freight moving on passenger aircraft. UPS is prepared to meet TSA requirements.

Freight that flies on UPS aircraft does not have to be screened, so your cargo moves without interruption. When UPS needs to ship your freight on passenger aircraft, we can screen your cargo using TSA-approved methods and deliver it to the airlines ready to be loaded. We have the equipment and processes in place in Certified Cargo Screening Facilities across the country to meet TSA screening requirements. This means we can avoid opening individual cargo pieces, and maintain the integrity of compliant freight shipments. Please note that UPS small package shipments are not affected by this requirement, as they move on UPS aircraft.

UPS has worked closely with the TSA since the early stages of this program, and we were among the first freight forwarders to become certified last year. We have the scale, resources, network and financial strength to successfully manage the process.  We will stay up-to-date with TSA regulatory requirements and continue providing the operational excellence your company requires.
